Key Responsibilities:
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering; Registered Professional Engineer in one or more states.
- 12 to 25 years of direct experience as a civil/structural engineer.
- Advanced knowledge of building codes related to civil/structural design.
- Plans and accomplishes goals based on extensive experience and judgment.
- May lead and direct other engineers and designers on projects, checking their work and providing technical resources.
- Prepares and reviews designs for compliance with engineering standards, codes, constructability, and completeness.
- Independently designs steel structures, foundations, masonry, and concrete.
- Designs complex load-bearing structures such as buildings, platforms, and pipe racks.
- Develops blueprint and specification packages for bid and construction submittals.
- Investigates structural failures, damages, and defects, providing reports summarizing findings.
- Uses design assumptions verified by structural theory and past experiences to simplify design efforts and develop innovative solutions.
- Coordinates and reviews structural steel shop drawings, concrete submittals, and other equipment or material submittals.
- Reviews and responds to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) on assigned projects.
